Default Bigelow, Broadway stars unite for "The Miraculous Year"

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow
Written by John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator, the Tony-winning Red)

Norbert Leo Butz...a tortured Broadway composer
Patti LuPone...the diva who's calling the shots ()
Frank Langella...the composer's father
Hope Davis...the composer's sister
Eddie Redmayne...someone

Quote:
It opens in Terry's townhouse, with the composer, who's in his 40s, snorting lines of cocaine off a "Wicked" playbill. He's trying to seduce a cute chorus boy with the coke and with verbal zingers aimed at shows he hates -- "Les Misérables," "Beauty and the Beast," "Mamma Mia!" and "Jersey Boys."

By the way, this is a pilot not a made-for-TV movie.

I must admit, the "John Logan" credit is keeping me from joining you in this sandwich.

Still, fuck WICKED.

John Logan has returned to his playwriting roots lately, which is significantly better than his film work (though I do like The Aviator and his Sweeney Todd adapted). I should think this will be more in that vein than Gladiator.

Does the show take place over the course of a year?

Script is pretty good. The scenes with the composer composing are some of the best about the creative process I've read in a long while. But there are, inevitably, issues.
