It opens in Terry's townhouse, with the composer, who's in his 40s, snorting lines of cocaine off a "Wicked" playbill. He's trying to seduce a cute chorus boy with the coke and with verbal zingers aimed at shows he hates -- "Les Misérables," "Beauty and the Beast," "Mamma Mia!" and "Jersey Boys."

John Logan has returned to his playwriting roots lately, which is significantly better than his film work (though I do like The Aviator and his Sweeney Todd adapted). I should think this will be more in that vein than Gladiator.

Does the show take place over the course of a year?

Script is pretty good. The scenes with the composer composing are some of the best about the creative process I've read in a long while. But there are, inevitably, issues.
