Everybody who watches The Good Wife is in love with Panjabi. She really is the fan favorite so I think she would edge out Baranski with her tape.

But she can't edge out the rest. It's not like people aren't in love with Joan on Mad Men. But she has the tape. Panjabi has almost nothing to do, ever, on The Good Wife. She does nothing exceptionally well, of course, but judging by tapes she clearly isn't top three of this category. That said, with her extreme popularity this season I fully expect her to get an episode next year which showcases Kalinda. That will very possibly allow her to win.

But what does "everybody" and "fan favorite" have to do with the academy that votes on these?

LOL what? You just listed some of the most substantial supporting roles (and one lead!) in film and TV. Punjabi is not even near those people in character importance!

I'd love to see that happen.

well, then what's your point? I posted cinema stars because "Likeable" is the same for TV, Theatre, and Movies...
I can't see why Panjabi can be a better shot than Baranski. The bad characters are now a fashion trend. You should know about it.

Well I didn't mean anything by it other than fans of The Good Wife (which would be the Emmy voters in this case since they clearly have a love affair with it based on the nominations) all rave about Panjabi. Panjabi is, quite frankly, the most interesting character on that show even if she has "nothing to do". Anybody who watches Damages knows that Rose Byrne had absolutely nothing to do this season and yet people are still predicting her . I'm only on season 2 of Mad Men so I can't really speak for Moss & Hendricks.

Yeah, but my point was what does it matter what fans say? This isn't the People's Choice Awards, it's the Emmys. The Globes award newcomers much more readily than the Emmys do (unless they're first time nominees with a long, long history of work). I don't watch The Good Wife so I can't speak to what Panjabi does or doesn't do on the show. Plus, since these are tape-based you don't necessarily vote for someone based on the seasons' worth of work if you don't watch the show. I was just making a separation between fandom and voting reality.

About the Academy and Sarah Palin, "I think she's the devil" Yeh, maybe they gonna like that from Baranski. And of course her amazing laugh about the news that she's lesbian. That was priceless.
If not, then Byrne.
